The Short Version
Be on time, be prepared, be kind, and make the game fun for the other people at the table — not just yourself.
Code of Conduct
These apply in game sessions, on Discord, and anywhere else you're interacting as part of this community.
- Treat everyone with respect. No harassment, bigotry, or personal attacks — in character or out.
- "My character would do it" isn't an excuse for making other players miserable.
- Share the spotlight. Make room for quieter players.
- Disagree with a ruling? Accept it for now and raise it with me after the session.
- Keep table talk mostly on the game. Banter is welcome; derailing isn't.
- [Add your own.]
If something goes wrong
If someone's behaviour is a problem, tell me privately on Discord or by email. I'll talk to the people involved. For minor issues that's usually a quiet word. Serious or repeated problems mean removal from the game and the Discord server. [Adjust to your policy.]
Safety Tools
Games are meant to be fun for everyone. We use these tools at every table:
Session Zero
Every campaign starts with a Session Zero. We talk about tone, themes, characters, and the topics people want to avoid. No dice required.
Lines & veils
A line is something that won't appear in the game at all. A veil is something that can happen, but off-screen. Anyone can add either, any time, privately if they prefer.
Pause / skip
[Your in-game signal — e.g. type 'X' in the Roll20 chat or Discord, or say 'pause'.] No explanation needed. We'll move on.
Check-ins
I'll check in after heavy scenes. You can also message me privately at any time.
Attendance
- Let me know as early as possible if you can't make a session — at least [24 hours] ahead where you can.
- The game runs if at least [3] players can attend.
- When you're absent, your character [fades into the background / is played by the DM / is played by another player].
- Missing [3] sessions in a row without notice means your seat goes to the waitlist.
Being Prepared
- Know your character's abilities and spells well enough to take your turn quickly.
- Keep your Roll20 sheet up to date.
- Think about your turn while others take theirs.
- Join Discord a few minutes early so we can start on time.
